The Leeds City Region has a proud history of engineering and manufacturing. The aim of UTC Leeds is to ensure that the city, and the surrounding region, has a fresh generation of engineering talent which will enable the sector to adapt to technological change and thrive.

Leeds is now the fastest growing city outside London, so we have an exceptional opportunity to support and fuel the growth of this prosperous region. Since we opened in September 2016, we have enrolled more than 300 talented students and are currently oversubscribed for applications into Years 10 and 12 for September 2018. This is testament to the fact that we have crafted a distinctive and relevant offer, delivered through a challenging and applied curriculum.

UTC Leeds is a school for students of 14-18 years, who have a particular interest in the STEM subjects and wish to progress to higher education or apprenticeships in a related technical or applied area. It is our vision to develop students who will make a valuable and lifelong contribution to society and the engineering industry. Our students study a stimulating and relevant curriculum and use the latest cutting-edge technologies.

We deliver a creative programme of study which blends academic and technical learning with integrated employer projects and university enrichment. This combination of academic excellence and employer-led learning, ensures that students are highly prepared to successfully enter careers in a wide range of competitive STEM sectors, including Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing. The work our students engage in is not just theoretical – they are developing new products on-site with engineers; this real-world experience is second-to-none.

To support high educational attainment, we have built a hi-tech learning environment with state-of-the-art facilities. Our employer-led initiatives are supported by powerful partnerships with global organisations such as Unilever, Siemens and Agfa. We also enjoy the sponsorship of the University of Leeds, which is among the top 100 in the world for engineering and technology.
